You
will be starting your GCSE course in Design & Technology
in September with a view to completing it at the end
of year 10.
There are
two main elements to the GCSE. A coursework project,
which comprises a design folder and a piece of practical
work, and two written exam papers.
The coursework
is worth 60% of the GCSE mark and the written exam papers
make up the remaining 40%.
Making the
correct choice is obviously crucial. You will be studying
this option for two years, so your reasons for choosing
it need to be more sophisticated than the fact that
your friends have chosen it.
Clicking on
each option on the menu bar at the top of this page
will give you a brief description, some examples of
the sorts of activities involved and what other subjects
it combines well with.
When you have
made up your mind, please hand in your request to
the school office on FRIDAY 18th MAY
with the following details:
1.
Your NAME and FORM
2.
Your FIRST CHOICE option with a REASON for choosing
it
3.
Your SECOND CHOICE option.
We will try to place you in your first choice option where possible.
Should a particular option be over-subscribed, we will
look at your previous performance in the subject.
