Although you are going to make one product, when developing your design you need to write about how this might be made in a batch of 50 (in school). How will batch production affect your choice of materials and components, tools, equipment, and processes? You must also develop a “control system” and use it when making. This might be a pattern, template or jig, which could be used repeatedly, or a CAD design, which is cut on a CNC machine. The designs must be shown.

Your design folder work for this stage should include:

A mixture of much more detailed sketches and drawings (exploded diagrams, simple orthographic drawings). CAD drawings will help you to get a higher grade.
The final design for the product should be clearly specified with accurate drawings, critical dimensions and key points.
A comparison of your design with the specifications that you produced a while back.
The reasons behind your decisions.
