The following should be included:
• Timescale of production (40 hours to complete all coursework including manufacture – approx 25 hrs portfolio work, 15 hrs manufacture
• Target market – who are you designing for
• Function of product – what is the purpose
• Performance of product – how and where will it be used
• Aesthetics/appearance – colour, shape, theme etc
• Materials – properties, performance characteristics, not specific fabric
• Manufacture/quantity – prototype for an initial batch of 50
• Cost – maximum cost
• Size – range and size of prototype if garment and maximum and minimum if furnishing product
• Ergonomics – comfort, safety, efficiency, ease of use
• Life in service – how long used, what happens after use
• Weight – does it matter
• Safety - are there any regulations to be considered
• Environmental issues – any requirements, can you use environmentally friendly materials
• Quality – set up a quality assurance and control method
