| Evaluation
against Specification
How long have I got for this section? 1
How many marks is this bit worth? 4
How many pages should it occupy? Maximum 3
You will need to evaluate your product against:
· Fitness for purpose
· Design need
· Needs of the intended user(s)
· Quality, with effective use of materials and resources
· The designing and making process, highlighting problem areas and successful aspects.
Write a short paragraph for each heading, giving it a title.
You will probably need to carry out a questionnaire to be able to evaluate your product against the design specification – remember it is not your opinion that matters – it is your target market’s opinion! Don’t forget to ask if they would make any changes to your product. You will show and analyse the results in AO6ii.
Use the bullet headings from your design specification and evaluate each one in detail using texts and photographs to illustrate your points. Remember, really good photographs will show off your months of hard work.
Use a star profile to collate your overall thoughts about your product in relation to the design specification. You could mark the success of each specification point out of 5.
Also, look at the success of the quality control checks carried out as part of the making process. How did you check the final quality of your product?
